If you bought a new primary residence in Williamson County in 2015 now is a good time to file for your homestead exemption for 2016. The general homestead exemption is provided by state law for owner-occupied residential properties. The exemption reduces the appraised value of your property from taxation, providing a lower tax amount for the homestead property. You may apply at the Williamson Central Appraisal District between January 1st and April 30th of the tax year or you can also apply for your Williamson County homestead exemption online as well.
